14 Feb Plastics recycling, it’s all in the numbers.
Everyone has seen the triangular arrow located on a plastic bottle, many think this means that the bottle is recyclable; this is not really the case. It’s all in the number located inside the triangle that tells the story of what you need to know. Getting to know the seven codes on plastic, will make life much easier when sorting your plastics at your recycling bin.
The above chart shows the number of plastic with a description of the type of product that is made of it. For the purposes of recycling, #’s 1,2,4, & 5 are recyclable via curbside collection. Most of the time #3,6 & 7 are not recyclable via curbside pickup. To find out what materials are recyclable in your area, check out that municipality’s website.
